Admissions
Avonmore warmly welcomes new families to visit the school.
About our Nursery
Avonmore Nursery provides full-time 30-hour places for 26 children from the age of 3. Our Nursery is free for every child and we provide every nursery child with a free lunch every day and a healthy snack at play times.
The school day begins at 8.35am and finishes at 3.30pm, apart from Fridays when we finish at 2.15pm.
Our nursery creates a nurturing, inspiring environment in which children feel valued, motivated and happy to learn through both play and structured, adult-led activities. We believe every child is unique and support all children in developing confidence and resilience, leading to high self-esteem. Our role is to tap into the children’s enthusiasms and interests, stretch their learning and challenge their development. We scaffold the children’s play, use effective questioning to extend their understanding of concepts and support them in developing strong, positive relationships with each other.
During our most recent Ofsted inspection (November 2021), inspectors were impressed that ‘Children start to learn to read, write and work with numbers as soon as they join the Nursery’ and ‘Children in the Early Years are enthusiastic about their learning and encourage visitors to join in’. Cultivating this enthusiasm and love of learning is at the heart of what we do at Avonmore’s Nursery.
In EYFS, we follow the Development Matters and Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, consisting of the seven areas of learning and development. The seven areas are as follows: three Prime areas: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development; and Communication and Language; and the four specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. On our recent Ofsted inspection, it was reported that ‘Children start to learn to read, write and work with numbers as soon as they join Nursery. Children in the Early Years develop a strong foundation for learning about numbers’ .
Using our carefully designed curriculum and experience, we ensure that all children have a smooth transition into Reception.
Above all, Nursery is fun! Every day, there are exciting things to do, new things to learn, exploring to be done and, best of all, friends to share it with.
